Ivy, The Best Birthday Surprise Dinner In Chelsea London

A perfect Birthday in the beautiful restaurant, The Ivy. And yes they serve vegan food! I thought I would get this post in before it got any further, into the month of May, as my birthday month was the month of April. A lovely surprise from my Boyfriend and it was a total surprise on the account, I told him not to tell me, even though he desperately wanted to. So instead I had him grinning from ear to ear until we arrived.

THE IVY RESTURANT

Just like a virgin, I hadn’t done this before. I mean I hadn’t been here before, The Ivy Chelsea Garden in London really is reserved for a special or very special occasion. Although I’m pretty sure a percentage of the elite go here for their lunch breaks. A lounge bar for cocktails, the Ivy brag about the restaurant having an air of sophistication and they aren’t wrong.

Everything from the front of the building to the interior décor, the atmosphere, food and drinks, oozed sophistication. That, they have achieved perfectly. The interior designers did such a great job. The whole restaurant had a wonderful botanical feel, just think Kew Gardens. Giant plant pots, exotic leaves, plant and flower patterned furnishings and fabrics. Even the menu wasn’t left alone! Not to mention the female toilets, such a beautiful place to take a tinkle.

Pink, pink and more pink flowers everywhere, a whole celling dedicated to it. A pink marble sink area and a maze of mirrors, to catch your every angle. As I was shamelessly taking photos of every inch of the restroom. Another customer came in, she politely giggled and my response was served with a smile “It’s not everyday, you see something like this” and continued to snap away on my iPhone. How good are the photos from a phone!

God only knows what the gents loo looked like. Spoken like a true Man, my Partner just said “It was alright?” There is even the option to dine alfresco in the beautiful setting of their gardens, with an electric retractable roof for those unpredictable showers for which we got to see it in action.

IVY 5 STAR FOOD

Having a thoughtful Boyfriend, he definitely did his research to assure, vegan food was an option on the menu. And I’m so glad it was. The Ivy cover every part of the day when it comes to dining. They do breakfast, brunch, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner.

MY DRINK | Passionate Spritz (Passion Fruit, Vodka, Prosecco) / HIS DRINK | I think he had a Cider or Beer.

MY STARTER | Avocado and Tomato Cocktail / HIS STARTER | Zucchini Fritti (crispy courgette fries).

MY MAIN | Baked Miso Aubergine / HIS MAIN | Keralan Sweet Potato Curry, we both had the Jasmine Rice, toasted coconut and Coriander.

DESSERT | We both had the Crème Brulee (it was not vegan) ouch!, would be so lovely if it was a vegan option.

We both agree the whole meal was very delicious!

From the host to all the other Ivy waitering staff, everyone was dressed so smartly. Our waitress was very attentive in a good way, she made the evening an enjoyable one.

WHAT I WORE

Keeping it simple, I opted for an all black outfit. I wanted comfort above everything else. I went with jeggings (a cross between leggings and jeans), super comfy and stretchy. Paired with black platform shoes and a velvet oversized shirt. I kept my makeup neutral and my jewellery minimal, just how I love it.

A LITTLE LATER

After my lovely birthday meal, we travelled to Canary Wharf to watch a Sandra Bullock film “The Lost City”, which was really quite funny.
