I have been using ELF cosmetics for quite some time now. Not just because it is a vegan and cruelty free brand. Ok that might have something to do with it. E.L.F is not the brand you’ll want to leave on a shelf okay.

WHY E.L.F COSMETICS

E.L.F cosmetics is affordable and like I said, it’s cruelty free and vegan. So assessable online and in store in the UK. E.L.F Cosmetics are popping up all over the country in drugstores and beauty counters. And they have recently increased their already, diverse range of cc creams.

FOUNDATION OR CC CREAM

Your stood at the beauty vault and you have two products in your hands. You ask yourself this question “foundation or a cc cream”? Before I knew my answer, I would often ask myself the same question, before being approached by a helpful sales agent for the third time asking, “do you need help?”. More times than none, I would tell them, that it’s okay and that I’m just looking. Looking for all eternity! But joking aside, a little help from a sales/ makeup artist really can save you time! Also looking online helps, now there are pictures of swatches on diverse models, yippie, thank you Rihanna and the BLM movement.

So back to the all important question, foundation or cc cream? You can choose either, ta da. It really all depends on what YOU prefer. Foundation for sure gives a full on coverage, there is no mistaking that. Whereas a cc cream like I am wearing in these photos believe it or not, gives a light to medium coverage in my opinion. Although E.L.F claim medium to full.

I say medium because, I still have to wear a colour corrector (for blemishes) under my E.L.F cc cream or else it will show through. And that just won’t do if I want to look flawless! I think they no longer sell the blemish corrector I would use, this cute chubby orange stick, which I would live by but they do still have fab concealers.

SHOULD YOU PRIME?

There is no rule on this but personally, I prime to shine. Not as in go out looking shiny but as in, I want to look my best for longer and my makeup sinking quicker into my pores, throughout the day, again just won’t do. I recently purchased the E.L.F Illuminating Face Primer and I really am in love with this product. It is super silky smooth, it has a gold shimmer to it hence the name illuminating. Wearing this under your foundation or cc cream, will have people telling you how glowing you look. Your photos will love you too! Other primers in the range are Hydrating, Prime Grip, Poreless and more!

WHAT TOOL TO USE

It really is down to personal choice, on what you choose to apply your cc cream. For a while now I have been using an old foundation brush from another brand. I really should upgrade this year. Personally I think the brush gives a more dewy look. Whilst if I used a beauty sponge, it would give my face a softer appearance, as if airbrushed which still looks stunning.

HOW TO APPLY YOUR E.L.F CC CREAM

Apply straight to the brush or your hand. Which ever you prefer. You can either use light brush strokes a little goes a long way, or you can build it up. Start on one section of your face and spread out. With a beauty sponge you just dab, dab (I believe that is the technical term) and gently do that all over your face, working in small sections until completely covered. Again the cc cream can be applied directly onto the beauty sponge or your hand.

MY HONEST OPINION

I’m not being biased here but I love the products from E.L.F. Cosmetics. I have my favourites as you can tell from this post. In my opinion, if you love something why let it go.
