Mooshies | Vegan Burgers

We went to Mooshies…Last month it was my birthday and I wanted somewhere not over expensive or too fussy to eat.  Also having a plant based diet and living in Kent the two just don’t mix.  It is almost too unbearable at times, there might be, if your lucky one shop, that houses vegan food in all it’s glory.  But one has to be super quick because those other vegans don’t mess around.  And almost too soon the food is gone.  So it was and always is a natural choice to venture into London for Vegan food, (really good vegan food).

Once again it was my sister that recommended a local (but not so local restaurant).  Not so local as I do have to travel into London, it’s really not that far from where I live and is a direct route, all the more pleasant to travel in.  This was my second birthday meal as I spent the first half with my mum and sister at Nandos.  And YES Nandos do cater for Vegans, you just have to look.  Anything from garden peas, sweet potato, Mediterranean salad, Pineapple, Avocado, veggie patties, pitta bread and obvious choice chips ( can I get a yum yum).  But we’re here to talk about Mooshies.

The second half of my birthday meal was spent with my boyfriend, old faithful (he’d probably be saying “old”?) I sometimes love doing this to share my time equally (also to get as much meals in as possible lol).  Before I made the conscious decision to be vegan, one of my favourite foods was in fact the burger ( I could eat Burger King Whoppers all day every day, but that was then!)

And this is now…sitting in one of London finest burger restaurants with my hunny, chowing down on healthy, vegetable and fruit burgers (vegan junk food). MOOSHIES, is located among the buzzing lifestyle on Brick Lane and is fast becoming popular among the locals and vegans from all over.  The smaller venue made for a intimate gathering, with its brightly coloured wall art, which gives the burger bar a very urban feel and cool atmosphere. The staff are friendly, the service is quick and the prices are reasonable.

We started of with drinks, coconut water and cream soda both very refreshing.  Quickly followed by delicious sides”chick p bites”(with sweet chilli mayo) and “cheezy potato fries”.  At this point I started feeling proper stuffed! and mentally encouraging myself to go on.  And so I did, not long after we demolished the sides, the mains had arrived, let the clapping commence.  The burgers looked like everything I hoped it would be (not like when you go into some places and its advertised one way and then comes out looking like a pancake)  This was the real deal.  My boyfriend ordered the “Brick Lane Bhaji” which was a little spicy and I ordered the “Pulled Mooshie”, which was meant to be a play on pulled pork, it did not disappoint, very tasty.  I kid you not, I could not eat another bite afterwards.  So unfortunately the dessert was sensibly left out (damn you small stomach!) I would definitely go back to Mooshies for a quicky burger (take outs are welcome). Mooshies is also recommended for those #cheatdays, your welcome.

How do you like to spend your birthday? let me know in the comments below : )
