As a child I quite enjoyed chocolate, I would spend my pocket money on all the popular ones still being sold today. I was never a chocoholic but could handle a couple of bars a week. Waiting in the long queue for the tuck shop after school was worth waiting for, as the satisfying taste of the chocolate melted in my mouth (oh yeah).
Being older my dietary requirements do not allow me to indulge in dairy products (cue the grumbling gut), which so many mainstream chocolates are made with.
I have had to find alternative chocolate, as it turns out I am a sugar addict (something I recently had to admit to. My sister made me!) It was my sister whom introduced me to Booja Booja and Dark Sugars Chocolates.
Booja Booja
Chocolate truffles all organic (umm, umm, umm). Dairy, gluten and soya free, yesssss!. These chocolates are guilt free pleasure. Booja Booja make so many wonderful varieties such as Hazelnut, Bonoffee Toffee, Around Midnight Espresso and many more. Each truffle is a square of perfection, best eaten slowly as each nibble is rich in taste. The truffles are very fulfilling so a box could last a day or two (entirely up to you. No one’s judging here) the packaging is cute but classy enough to make anyone feel special, especially if given as a gift.
Dark Sugars Chocolates
An exquisite chocolate shop good enough to rival Charlie AND his chocolate factory! A small shop based in London on Brick Lane and home to probably the best choices of chocolate in the city and I mean the best. There are so many combinations of chocolate you would be spoiled for choice! All the chocolates are housed in very large raw, wooden, fashionable looking bowls. Giving the shop a real organic look and feel. These are few of my favorite things (see what I did there), Coffee and Walnut, Gin and Lime and white chocolate with passion fruit. These chocolates have a sexy taste or at least will make you feel sexy whilst eating them (no lie). All chocolates are handmade made with 100% cocoa, free from preservatives and other nasty products. They also do the best hot chocolates and are grate for a winter warmer.
